Catch This! Best Seafood Restaurant 2008

Chef Chris Parsons and Chef de Cuisine Frank Francione

Catch Restaurant – Massachusetts

If three times is a charm, then the fourth and counting is a big “catch” for Chef Chris Parsons. Since the first day the doors opened in 2004, Catch Restaurant has been consistently reeling in the “best restaurant” title, with a recurring spot on Boston Magazine’s celebrated Best of Boston list, earning the Best Seafood Restaurant honor (and previously Best New Restaurant). Catch Restaurant, just fifteen minutes outside of Boston in Winchester, Massachusetts, has hooked the Best Seafood Restaurant spot once again for 2008, garnering high praise from the magazine’s restaurant critics.

“…We’d eat this meal 10 times over…” as said by the editors of Boston Magazine, “…there’s not a whole lot to Catch, a handful of tables in an unremarkable corner of Winchester. Not that we care: Chef Chris Parsons’ palpable passion for seafood makes ambience entirely irrelevant here…from feather light potato gnocchi with Maine shrimp to crispy black bass with beet purée…”

The secret to Catch’s flavorful success lies in its “fresh from the water to the plate” mantra. More than just a name, Catch’s continually evolving market menu is dependent upon the catch of the day from Parsons’ extensive network of local fishermen, as well as the offerings of local oyster farms and farmers. And do not be surprised to find Parsons and his Chef de Cuisine, Frank Francione, digging for clams themselves. Each seafood preparation speaks for itself, with no fanfare or fussy décor necessary. As a nod to traditional coastal seafood restaurants, brown Kraft paper squares, layered over crisp white tablecloths dress the modest tables at Catch.

A fourth-generation fly-fisherman, Chef Parsons has carried his “fresh from the water” philosophy to Martha’s Vineyard and has already gained considerable acclaim at the one-year old establishment, Catch at The Terrace in The Charlotte Inn [a Relais & Châteaux property]. It was recognized by Condé Nast Traveler in the magazine’s prestigious Gold List. Both Catch and Catch at the Terrace have received Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence and are recipients of the Five-Star Diamond Award.
